Phoenix Delivery System Monitor

There is currently significant attention being focused on mobile banking, prepaid, electronic conversion of billing and payment, growth in debit, etc. One key question that has not been directly addressed is what is the effect of all of these changes on how consumers use existing channels? Will new channels divert transactions from old channels, add to total transactions, or have a combination of effects? Can consumer transactions be steered from one channel or technology to another? Can we use this behavior to reconfigure or eliminate branches or reduce branch staff?

Phoenix’s Delivery Channels Technology – FI Market Tracker program will monitor the installed base of branches and branch equipment and electronic solutions and services including current and planned purchases, budgets, use of features and functions as well as attitudes towards emerging technologies. Technologies covered will include terminals, scanners, kiosks, TCR/TCD (teller cash units), video tellers and custom solutions.

In conjunction with the Consumer Payments Monitor, a component of our consumer payments research focuses on consumer attitudes, preferences, and usage of ATMs and ATM/debit cards. Consumer reactions to changes in ATM technology, features and functionality, usage fees, and placements will guide future bank deployment strategies.  Analysis shows differences between various consumer segments controlling for age, income, education and use of other bank channels and payment methods. Consumer ATM research topics include: ATM Usage & Frequency; Demand for services like image check deposit and video teller; ATM Fees and ATM Security Issues.
